Invest in Your Personal Development
Investing in your personal development requires you to take ownership of your own life and your happiness.
You become your own advocate and you “fight” for what you want, instead of hoping it falls into your lap, which
it won’t by the way.
The alternative is to do nothing, to make no effort to take
control of your life and to be completely unprepared to handle what life throws at you.
So when things happen, and they will happen, you will end up not knowing how to react to the situation rather
than at least having some tools to work with to solve the problem.
It will be like trying to cover a cut that requires stitches up with a band aid. You may be able to cover it up
for the moment, but the blood will seep through making a bigger mess, causing you to panic. If however you had
taken the proper steps in the first place, you would be well on your way to healing.
Now how do you begin to invest in yourself and your personal development? You have to begin with being the best
you, you can be. When you are continually working on yourself the rest will fall into place. That doesn’t mean
there won’t be challenges, but if you are working on being the best you, you will be better equipped to deal with
whatever comes your way.
So what is next? How do go about being the best you possible? This is where creating a personal development action plan comes into play. It is not meant
to be set in stone so leave room for flexibility to make adjustments as necessary.
But it should include an outline that includes what you want to accomplish and when you want to accomplish it.
Then you will want to keep track of what you accomplish and when you do it so you can monitor your progress.
Things you could include in your development plan:
Either begin an exercise routine or add in something new if you already exercise.
Try to eliminate one bad food and add in one good one.
Drink one extra glass of water a day.
Learning and growing wise:
Read a new book monthly.
Go to a museum or art gallery several times a year.
Try out some new music.
Emotionally and spiritually wise:
Learn to meditate or some kind of relaxation technique.
Take time for yourself, daily, even if it is just a few minutes.
Take time for friends and family.
There is a reason they tell you to have a plan in place in case there is ever a fire in your home. If it ever
happens, you will know what to do, if you don’t, you will panic and possibly die. Life is very similar, if you want
to be happy and accomplish your goals you have to have a plan. Otherwise, when life does throw obstacles your way
you will panic and possibly quit, which is giving up on you, and that should never be an option.
