Learn Self Hypnosis Techniques

I don’t know about you, but I am a pretty busy person. I don’t have time to schedule time with my doctor let alone time with a hypnotist.

And realistically I can’t diagnose myself and prescribe whatever drugs I need, but I can save myself time and learn self hypnosis techniques to work on whatever I may need, be it wanting to lose weight or to stop smoking.

Wait before you start telling me all the bad things you have heard about hypnosis, let me just say this. Hypnosis has, in general, gotten a bad rap.

Really hypnosis is just a form of meditation and if you know much about meditation you know it is a great stress reliever among many other things. So keeping that in mind let’s take a look at and learn self hypnosis techniques.

Meditation is generally used to reduce stress and relax your body to allow it to re-group and re-charge your system. Self hypnosis is similar but with it some folks incorporate affirmations. The affirmations are to help you accomplish something specific. Affirmations are positive statements that we create to counter stress and battle unpleasant thoughts.

The whole purpose of self hypnosis is to get yourself into a state of being that will allow you to change behavior or habits. So the first step is to create your affirmation. You need to create it and memorize it so when you are in a deep state of relaxation you won’t be searching for it possibly breaking the state you are in, meaning you will have to start all over again.

Next, find a quiet and comfortable place to sit down, either on a chair or on the floor, whichever is most comfortable for you.

The next step is to relax your whole body. Now if you are not used to doing this it is going to take some time so be prepared for that both time wise and patience wise. To do this you want to pick a place to begin.

I like to start with my toes and work my way up, but others like to start at the top and work down. But you will want to consciously relax each body part: toes, feet, ankles, calves, knees, thighs, etc… until your whole body is relaxed.

Then you are going to want to deepen the level of relaxation, by using suggestion. This is as simple as saying something similar to this, “I am feeling even more relaxed now and more comfortable. With every breath I am becoming even more relaxed and more comfortable”.

Once you feel totally and completely relaxed you are going to want to use the affirmations you have created and memorized. Alternate these in while continuing the relaxation suggestions. Most people self hypnotize for 15-25 min. but really you can do it for as long as you like.

When you are ready to end your session, take the time to come back slowly, don’t hurry it, you want the effects of your session to last a long time and to stay with you when you come out. If you hurry you will disrupt the flow you have just created. So take your time to enjoy the full effects.
