Positive Habits to Develop
positive all the time can be quite a challenge. And really everyone at one point or another has had a bad
But if you prepare yourself for those kinds of days by developing positive habits those bad days won’t seem so
And by doing so you could take a potentially disastrous day and make it doable you can also take an OK day and
turn it into an upbeat, positive day.
The positive habits outlined in this article may seem simple, but a lot of us don’t even think to develop them
into habits that can positively affect our lives.
The first positive habit to develop is starting your day off in the right frame of mind. When you first wake up
in the morning you are going to want to make the choice, every morning, to begin the day in a positive, good mood.
You also need to realize not everything will go smoothly today, but that it is OK, you will deal with it when it
comes in a calm way.
Another good habit is to appreciate the good things you already have in your life. We tend to get into the bad
habit of worrying about the small stuff in life and forget to look around us and see that we have a lot of great
things going on in our lives: friends, family, and good health, just to name a few.
The next positive habit is to try to learn something new daily if you can, but definitely often. Learn a new
word and its meaning; do a crossword puzzle, anything that will force your brain to be active, keeping it sharp and
As silly as this next one sounds, laugh. Get in the habit of laughing often and loud. Laughing is the ultimate
way to let go of stress and it can help you change your mood if you are having a rough day.
Another positive habit to develop is letting the people around you know how much you love and appreciate them.
It makes them feel better and believe it or not it will make you feel better too. By spreading some positive
energy, you will be amazed at how much positive energy will come your way.
This next one is hard to do sometimes, but it is an important one. Learn how to be a better listener. And the
reason it is hard sometimes is because you may not always agree with the other person, but you don’t have to, just
be there to listen.
As a mom of two very active boys, this last habit is, in my opinion the most important. And that is to take some
quiet time, every day, even if it is only 10-15 min. Use that time to re-group and reflect. You will be amazed at
how refreshing just that 15 min. can be.
Being aware of the positive habits available to you and incorporating them into your life will help you be more
prepared to roll with the punches life will surely send your way and help you in your personal growth.
