The Power of Repeated Words and Thoughts
Most thoughts that we have are temporary, for example, I think I want pizza for dinner, or maybe I should wear a
hat and gloves today.
They float in you deal with them and they float on out allowing more thoughts to come. Sometimes though a
thought come thru and we hold onto it, or it comes thru so many times that we hold onto it.
And for some reason it is the negative thoughts that we seem to want to keep.
Think about for a minute, how many thoughts are you holding onto right now that aren’t very positive. For
example, I will never be good enough to move up in this company, or I am so fat.
You see if you hold onto a thought long enough your subconscious begins to accept that as a truth. So by
repeating the same thing over and over again, makes your brain say hmmm that must be important, let me hold onto
that and integrate that as part of who I am.
I remember feeling like I could never be a runner. I had told myself that for years, so guess what? I had never
even tried running, because I knew that I was not capable of doing it.
What is even more amazing is how much the world around you can affect how you feel about yourself. If you are
told you can’t, you can’t, you can’t, your subconscious is trained to believe that you can’t do something.
Your subconscious can even affect how you feel and how you react to life as it happens to you. If you don’t feel
very good about yourself, that is reflected in everything you do. And people absolutely notice the difference
between a person with self-confidence versus someone
who is not very self-confident.
In order to start reversing the negativity going on in that brain of yours, you need to start making some
changes. And the biggest change you need to make is what type of thoughts are floating into your mind. You need to
take stop thinking negative thoughts and replace them with positive thoughts.
One way to this is to use positive affirmations. An
affirmation is a statement that you make and repeat over and over again. By choosing positive thoughts you will
change your way of thinking, thus changing your life. What is extremely important to remember is that the statement
must be phrased positively. For example:
Don’t say, “I am not fat anymore.”
Say, “I am getting thinner every day.”
Don’t say, “I am not filled with hate anymore.”
Say, “Love is filling my heart.”
It is also important to note that an affirmation only works if it is said more than just a few times. Realize it
took the negative thoughts being said over and over again for your subconscious to accept, it will require the
same, plus strong faith and persistence to replace that negative thought with a positive one.
It is pretty amazing how the power of repeated words and thoughts can either positively or negatively affect
your life. Make the decision to give the power to the positive thoughts and improve your life.
