Turbo Charge Your Personal Development
You have been working on putting your personal development plan
together, but now what do you do with it? How do you make your plan work or you and make it work quickly?
This article is going to explain how you can turbo charge your personal development, so you can make it start
working for you as soon as possible and as quickly as possible.
The first step is to find a friend, a co-worker, someone who is willing to make you be accountable to them.
As independent as we like to believe we all are, it helps encourage us and keep us motivated to move forward if
we have to “report” to someone, regularly. Set up weekly meetings to share with the person you will be reporting
to, to go over what you have accomplished and what you still need to work on.
The next step is the most important, you need to begin!!! You need to begin implementing your personal
development plan. Select a schedule of how you will implement each part of your plan and when you will do that. Put
it all down on paper, create a timeline and make sure the person you are reporting to gets a copy also.
The third step is to literally keep track every day of what you have done today to implement the plan, and what
you are still doing from the day or the week before. Part of why you need to do this is to help you stay on track,
show you where maybe you are slipping a bit, and give you the opportunity to make corrections along the way.
Finally, when you do complete part of your plan, share that with the person you are being accountable to and
celebrate!! Part of staying motivated and on track is knowing you are making progress.
If we don’t feel like we are making any headway we get frustrated and want to quit. And you have come too far at
this point to quit. You need to see it through now. So break your plan down into manageable pieces and celebrate
when you reach each milestone!
So, four steps to success, and if followed properly, by following the steps I have outlined you will not only
find success, but you will find it quickly.
First you must find someone you can be accountable to on a weekly basis, next you need to actually start
implementing your personal development plan, including setting up a schedule to follow, third start keeping track,
every day, keep track of what you are doing, what you should be doing and what you can improve on, and finally, as
you complete each milestone, celebrate!
In order to stay motivated and on track you need to
see you are making progress and the best way to do that is to do something significant to show yourself and the
person who is helping you that you are moving forward.
And the last thing to remember is that you are not perfect and you will probably make mistakes along the way. It
is OK to make mistakes so long as you get back to it, fix it and keep moving forward!
