Ways to Improve Your Personality
Who you are and how you are, are both tied to your personality. In most cases you personality is what will
attract people to you or make them shy away from you.
And although our personalities are developed early on in life, we do have some control over who we are and how
So, if you are feeling like you need to make some adjustments and improve your personality, here are a few ways
you can do that.
One way to improve your personality is to become a better listener. Everybody
wants to know that the person they are talking to is listening and very interested in everything they have to say.
So learn to listen, acknowledging when necessary and make the other person feel like they are the only person in
the world while you are listening.
Another way is to learn more. It is easy to learn about things that interest us, but a bit harder to learn about
things we don’t know much about or care much about. But when interacting with others the more knowledge you have,
the more likely it is that you will be able to participate in the conversation. And that will open up more
conversation making people want to talk with you more.
The next way, is to have your own opinion. People respect a person who will give their opinion, stick to their
opinion and also be able to back it up with information. People also get bored talking to someone who has no
opinion about anything.
It makes it very hard if a person continually says, “I don’t know, I don’t care, whatever is fine.” By having an
opinion it can allow a conversation to go somewhere, making it more interesting.
The fourth way is to be positive and have a positive
attitude. Nobody, including yourself I bet, wants to be around someone who is constantly negative. It can drag
an entire group’s mood down and then everyone is crabby. Instead be the upbeat person who greets people with a warm
smile making people feel welcome.
Another way is to try to find the humor in things. Life is challenging and throws a lot at us, and how we choose
to handle it greatly affects what people think about us. So instead of getting mad or angry, try to find the humor
in things that go exceptionally wrong, or come at you unexpectedly.
The last way is to be supportive of others. We can all use and we all appreciate it when we have someone in our
corner. So, you can be that person. Be the cheerleader for someone in your life that could really use one right
now. Shows them you are aware that they are dealing with something challenging are you are there.
Improving your personality is something anyone can do if they feel like they need to work on some aspect of how
they communicate with other people. By being a good listener, expanding your knowledge base, having your own
opinion, be positive, laugh at yourself, and support those people you love you can be a better more well-rounded
person and that is what people look for when making friends.
