Why People Are Poor?
Being poor is not as many people think, a life choice. People are poor for lots of reasons and many of those
reasons are out of their control.
If a person is not given the proper education, if they are not taught how to handle money, someone did not
encourage them, or simply put, the system let them down horribly.
One of the reasons is that when you are born into a life of poverty, you know, nothing else, so how can you
possibly know how to make money or support yourself.
We all learn from what we know and if all you know is being poor, then that is where you tend to stay. It is
very difficult to break the cycle.
Another reason is one that people do have some control over and that is spending more than you make. When you
make a certain amount of money you have to live within those means or you will owe money and then you will owe more
money until you start losing things and end up in serious trouble.
Also, if you don’t know how to budget what you do have, how can you live within your means. That again comes
back to what you are taught about money. You have to know how to handle the money that you do get so that you don’t
spend too much.
And I am sure I will get harassed for this one, but I believe that part of the problem is society. We are a
country with so much, how can we possibly have children who don’t eat three meals a day or have people living on
It is just utterly wrong to allow that to be. I am not saying I have the answer on how to fix it, but there has
to be a way to solve the problem. There has to be a way to take the scales and find balance.
Another huge problem is giving folks an opportunity to work for pay that will allow them to live above the
poverty line. It is very sad when a person makes more money collecting unemployment then they could working a full
Tell me where the incentive to work is there. Why would I busy my butt, leave my kids in day care all day, when
I know I can’t make enough to pay my rent, cloth my children and ever change my situation?
There needs to be some serious changes with how things are done. And one change I can think of is to teach our
kids in school at any level how to manage money. Teach them how to save it, how to spend it, and especially how to
not let it rule their world.
We also need to make it worth it for someone to go work and not stay home collecting food stamps and
unemployment. Most people want to work and make their own way we just have to give them the opportunity to do
They have to make enough to put food on the table, clothe their family, pay rent, etc… Then we will begin to see
people being able to keep their heads above the water instead of slowly drowning.
